I dont think many people go into car purchases with there eyes shut, most want to know what they are in for!:)

U sure? Ive heard of the discs being around £500 just for the part, and that may have been each!

ok i will dig out the details back soon....

I believe the front discs on the 63's to be at around £1000 for the pair.

Maybe more now, if they are now offering slightly more modified discs and pads that they were offering 2-3 years ago.

Also, I don't think the amount we spend on these cars has anything to do with being bothered about what may seem like minor expenditures.

It is always sensible to be aware of this costs, even if they do seem trivial in comparison to the price of the car.

Performance Pack PLUS discs (which are of a new design compared to the previous non-plus version) apparently have a cost price of £650 EACH to the dealer....so they told me when the put the warranty claim through!

If that price for discs is correct may I suggest you stock up asap. :D

Drive like a lady, maybe... but not when you meet up with us, eh!!:rock:

I drive the car hard, but use the brakes coupled with engine braking.

When I drive the car calmly, I never really use the brakes at all.
The only time I have to apply light pressure on the brakes is when stopping at a red light, or when meeting a junction!

All this helps to minimise brake dust on my rims too!!! :bannana:

Haven't had a service yet but surely a C63 owner (or potential owner)'s expectation is that it is going to be expensive??

It's a C63 AMG. It's going to cost a lot to service.

I agree that we should all be aware of service costs but seriously, is it going to determine whether you buy the car or not??

Reality check time...

Trando, my good man!!!! :thumb::thumb:

How you doing, bud!!

Fair comments.

And no, it does not tend to sway our decisions to buy these monsters!!

But it does prehaps make us drive with alittle more mechanical sympathy compared to "normal" cars, when driving them day-to-day.

Not so much when putting the hammer down though!! LOL!

Except if your name is Palmball..... where you get bollo#ked for not even bedding in the brakes!!!:doh::D

LOL!

Hey Rash...

All is good in Trando world (should have bought that DR520 though - 'nother story....)

You serious????

Thats if you dont have the performance pack.

So basically if you have the preformance pack

1) They sc..w you for what you get
2) They sc..w you even more when you need parts

Standard car prices seems pretty 'cheap' compared :)

DR520... na, a few tweaks to yours and you'll do what the DR520 does with ease!!:rock:

Mechanical sympathy... heehee, yeah, man.
Or maybe it's just me and my love for my car.

I drive it extremely sympathetically.
Except when I put the hammer down.

But I still use engine braking.
It is a more efficient way to control the weight transfers, and is alot more kind to the brakes.

Yeah, I get the engine breaking thing - that works for me...

My problem is that I have a daily 4 mile drive to Winchester BR - and back. Which is fun....

Weekends is my chance to let rip.

Oh for a 18 mile drive to the office along sweeping country roads with no traffic........ *sigh*
