Hi all,
I’m a new memeber looking to find the service history of a vehicle before purchasing. Is anyone able to tell me how to do this or provide the history for the vehicle.
VIN: WDD1770872J016056
Any help is very much appreciated. Thanks

The easiest way is to take the V5C and a photo ID and walk into your local Mercedes-Benz dealership, they'll be able to print-out the service history for you free-of-charge (at the time of writing this, we are still waiting for the press briefing that will tell us what new COVID-19 restrictions will be imposed).

Alternatively, if one of the members on here has access to the MB Digital Service Book system, they may be able to help.

The dealer you are buying this from can supply this.

There are people (myself included) here that can do the same but we really can't start supplying such information to new members that we do now know. Otherwise the forum will be overrun with such requests.

No reason either the dealer or the private seller cannot supply the history other than the fact they cannot be bothered or do not want to.

Thanks, the reason I ask is that the dealership said they had no record (obviously I asked them before coming here) but when I look online at booking a Service through Mercedes it shows me a previous recorded mileage for the car (but no other details) so I’m assuming it has been serviced but would like more information on this

The fact that it's showing on MB's electronic service system will support the view that it was serviced at that mileage either by a Mercedes dealer or an approved independent specialist who has access to MB's system. Whether it had the full service as required by the age/mileage can't be ascertained from the information on that screen. How old is the car, current mileage and mileage showing on MB's system?

Unfortunately, the various data protection issues have meant that many garages seem to have taken an easy 'can't be bothered' to redact etc.. so just dispose of any service papers, unless it's in a stamped service booklet, which of course many newer cars don't have. Of course, some people buy blank books from auction sites and use 'acquired' stamps, effectively proving nothing without supporting invoices, which many garages now ditch. More unintended consequences from somebody's 'good idea'.

Thank you for the clarification. It was first registered in October 2018, currently has 16k miles on the clock and is showing as a previous recorded mileage at 9k. From my research I’d guess this was the A service and it is now due a B, which the dealership have said they will carry out before I took the car.
the reason I’m wanting confirmation before purchase is that I’m assuming the warranty is invalid if it hasn’t kept to the correct service schedule.

Yes it will be due a B-service and probably brake fluid change. Ask that a Mercedes main dealer perform the service and it should be fine.

...and it will also ensure that the service is recorded in the car's DSB.

The issue with traders servicing the car themselves before selling it is that if they don't have access to the DBS and it will show as missing service.

DSB stands for Digital Service Book, the electronic record maintained by Merc for those wondering

DSB = Digital Service Book ;)

When you say 'dealership', is this a franchised MB dealer? As others have stated, to ensure no wriggle-room re any warranty claims, it does need to be serviced as per MB's schedule (time and mileage), so a MB main dealer or an approved independent (who also can access the DSB) would be best. Unfortunately some other dealers will 'service' a car but it might only be an oil/filter change and does not meet the requirements. There's normally a 1,000 mile /1 month allowance re servicing reqts. in order to maintain warranty.

Eta, beaten to it! Must type more quickly.

While obviously not having the car serviced to the manufacturer's schedule isn't a good idea.... in terms of warranty, this isn't an acceptable cause for a blanket void - I.e. the manufacturer can only use this as an excuse to reject warranty claims if there's a reasonable link between the neglect in servicing and the actual fault.

Agreed; it's just another wriggle-room factor for them but having experienced a civil court case against one of the MB dealers in the didstant past , I'm reluctant to give them too much ammunition ;)

You are very welcome!
Thank you so much, really appreciate this.
Many thanks to everyone else for their advice on this thread too
Hi Mate would you be kind enough to check one for me please as I'm in same situation I have bought a car recently with no service history.
If it does have service history then I will go to Main dealership and get the print.

Many thanks in advance.

Just contact the main dealer with the Vin# and proof of ownership and they will print out the service history for you provided it been entered on the DSB.

I’m sorry, I’m away on holiday at the moment. I can’t get into looking up histories for everyone at the drop of a hat. I’m happy to help out forum regulars, or randoms if I happen to be logged on to the system at the time I notice a request. Basically, when and if it suits me I’ll help people out, but I can’t be a service for this. It’ll get out of hand. Sorry.

Wll do that thanks
