CLK 320 CDI
Morning lads and girls, I’ve just signed up to be a member today and was wondering if you guys could help me I bought a CLK 320 CDI last Saturday without service history, I got it for a very good price considering spec and engine, it’s a 2008, the car dealer I had it from said that he didn’t have the history with it as it was never given to him by the previous owner, it had its problems and I had to drive it around 70 miles home in limp mode ‍♂️ But it made it and returned 48.8mpg so I was happy with it it’s all fixed and running right now without any cost to me I just wondered if any of you knew of a way to regain service history? I know it can be hard to do but I just wondered if any of you had any clues,
Thanks Dan

As of 2008, the service history is recorded on MB's central computer. The paper service book was discontinued in 2007.

MB delaers have access to it, as well as some independent garages.

If you walk into your nearest MB dealership with your V5C, they will print-out for you a copy of the Digital Service Book for your car, showing the services it had so far.

Obviously it will only show record of any services carried-out by MB dealers, and by independent garages with access to the system, so a gap in the service record does not necessarily indicate a missed service.

And, if you get the next service done at an MB dealer, then after the service the dealer will give you a printed copy of the Digital Service Record for that service, which will include a PIN called SecCode. With this PIN you can log-in to the system via the Internet and have access to the car's Digital Service Book yourself (you will be required to create an online account with Mercedes Me and register the car).

Alternatively, you can write to the previous owner, abd ask for any service receipts he or she may have.

Hi and welcome.

My 1st port of call, would be walking into my local MB dealership, armed with proof of purchase and V5 I would ask the service dept if they had any records of the car whatsoever (not to say it was serviced there) as they may have something on the database? I know it is a long shot, but it is a start.

Sound advice from MJ! :)

Thanks for replying mate, I’ve Emailed Mercedes Benz of Gloucester because their number plate holder is on the back of the car so it obviously went there at some point in its life haha, they’ve said that it’s not supported by the later digital service records and they don’t keep any records with the car being so old, it’s just bit frustrating because I want to know what’s been done, I’ve already done a service on it and I’ll be doing the gearbox oil and filter next week aswell, I had the v5 come yesterday but there’s no previous owner printed on there which there has always been, that was my plan after, I bought the car for myself, not to resell so it’s not the most important thing, it’s just a nice thing to have isn’t it haha

I am pretty sure a 2008 car should be on the Digital Service Book... try asking another dealer?

I’ll try the one local to me on Monday, I can get access to the DSB system myself as of Monday when I’m back at work (2 weeks paternity leave so I’m not looking forward to it) haha, thanks for replying again mate

I got the full service history on a 2006 car from my local mb dealership, as well as the v5 I also had to prove id with my driving licence but they printed it with no problem.

Dan, FYI Natacha @ Prestige car service is a delightful young lady :) - mate doesn't seem appropriate, although I suspect she wouldn't mind.
