If your in the SW19 area try Steve Redfearn's
169 Gladstone Road
020 8540 2311.

Before the CLK has I had a CL420, he let me drop it at 10pm then called at 9am the next morning to say it was fixed. Cracked vacuum pipe feeding the locking seet mechanism. I'd spent hours and hours trying to fix it but got nowhere. These guys did it in under an hour.

Would use them anytime.

Chris

Thanks Chris,

I seem to remember you gave me the number before, but my PDA crashed and I lost the details.

I'll give him a call tomorrow.

I also have to get the W203 serviced soon the indicator says only 400 miles to go. This will be an A service, and I will go to the stealers to keep up the Moblio cover.

Ive got a guy in East london, hes very good, he actually works for MBNZ in the weekdays and is the cheif service technician, he has his own place at the weekends, and he has all the main dealer facilities that other local garages would not have, let me know if anyone wants his details.

Please could you let me have this number too.

This same guy charged me 120 quid to replace a 10 quid brake switch (when the cruise control packs up -- a 10 min job at most) when it went on my C240 .... not been back since!!!

c240sport, some have had bad, and some good experiences with all independents, the trick is ask whats wrong and get a second quote!

East london guy - suki - prestige car specialists -07831348015

Ive been to most of the london ones, and PCS seems to be the fairest of then all, sorry you had a bad experience, i`ll tell him when i go there next!

Alps have you had any experience with Mercs Only, based in Hanwell? Just out of curiousity, i wonder what other people think of their service.

I'm in the midst of getting my car taken back there after a service so that can rectify some problems. Not very impressed, but will write up something once i have my problems sorted out.

Can any one recommend a servicing place/specialist anywhere near Dagenham, Essex?
We spoke to London Road Mercedes in Romford and they said a '94 model was too old ???

i had a major service done by mercs only which included all fluids changed. my opinion, they dont seem very knowledgeable or keen on working on old mercs such as mine and i think they charge too much. i was sort of like indirectly told that my car was too old and worth nothing which i didnt appreciate much as affordability isnt the issue with me but my preference of driving a w124 series. everyone is entitled to their own opinion but i truly believe the w201's, w124's and w126's were some of the best cars built by mb even though are not as refined as the new mercs, which is why i chose to drive one. anyway back to the subject of mercs only i was told by one of the regular customers that they are good and very competitive and he drives the latest e220 cdi, so i guess they are good for new mercs but not the old ones. warning though, if you told to leave the car there for one day, it really means 3 days as i saw disgruntled customers with my own eyes complaining of the fact that they have been waiting for days, nevertheless, go and experience them for yourselves. oh by the way i got a free mercs only t-shirt as compensation for having to wait all day where i was told if i drop the car at 8.30 i could have it by midday. i got my car back at 17.30.

by the way, im a financial advisor so if i can be of any help to you members dont be afraid to post any questions.

Too right. One thing i don't like is that they sit there in suits taking the money, rather than getting their hands dirty and doing the work. Thats one thing i've begun to take for granted from George Fraser. At least, he will work on the cars himself, and take the car for a test drive to ensure he's happy with. One of cars is due a service next week, and i'm definately going back to George, once i've got the issues resolved from Mercs Only on my W210.

Spot on! And if you, like me rely on your car to be back on time, then this definately isn't the place to go. From what i gather they only have 1 workshop, which has about 5 ramps from memory, but they always used to be bring my car from 'around the corner', which i would assume was in a parking lot of some sort. This time factor for me definately was a reason for me to look elsewhere. And on one occasion i called them at 4:30pm to ask if my car was ready. They said it was almost complete and i could come down. I told them that i'm leaving and will be there by 6pm, so "please wait for me" (since they close at 6). When i got there, at 5:55pm they had disappeared. No one there. Not even a mechanic.. and the shutters were down. That totally pee'd me off.

damn... they give out t-shirts? I know what i'll be asking for next time i go down! :D

Ive been using this guy in hayes, and have recomended several friends and family to him, so far have not had any complains, and i find not only does he know what he is doing, but he is honest,he will not lie to make a quick buck, if anyone is interested let me know and i'll get all his details. He is not the cheapest, but quite reasonable at the same time, compared to george fraser and others i have heard of.

Im sure its been mentioned before, but Colin Ferns in Richmond is great.

He does my 230 CE, dads CLK 430 and a few other friends cars... not the cheapest but very very good.....

Found it!

I can tell you that the little alley that runs down to his workshop is rather tight. If your not happy with reversing 100 yards down an 8ft wide alley after the service then you might want to think again :) (I'm sure they'll offer to do it if you ask but it is bloody tight)

We had to use them in a hurry last Saturday - had a prohibition served on one of our company cars. A 2-year old Golf which had bald tyres and required an MOT URGENT. Of course the Golf then failed the MOT because of cracked plates and a blown bulb, but they fixed them straight away. They were very helpful and come highly recommended

mercsonly sent me a T-shirt (how the hell did they know?)

I will go there to do an undercover report soon.

Used them again today for the MOT on my C270 (passed - natch!).

Their premises are spotless clean and they gave me a free valet and brake clean (doubtless in a bid for future servicing).

The only thing that annoyed me a bit was that they took it upon themselves to remove the original dealer tax disc holder (with handy Mobilo phone number) and rear window sticker and put their own ones in. Just seems a needless invasion of a 'private space' to me. I like to keep the original dealer stickers (& number plates) to keep it original come resale.

Wouldn't have a dealer sticker in my car under any circumstances....

You give them XX grand to buy the car, and then give them free advertising ?

They should pay you !

I always used SS Motors of Weybridge for my R107. They also deal with modern Mercs and come highly recommended from others. £45/hr + VAT - though Joe (the owner) did a number of things for my 350SL for nothing.

Do you mean a twelve-year-old Golf by any chance?
