Looking for new one
Quick question - how do these work on the W211 E55 AMG, is it based on 1) miles or time whichever sooner or 2) just miles since last service?

Looking at a car that has 85k miles on clock, next service says due in 7k miles. Last service done at 77k at MB dealer in Oct 2010.

I would have thought from previous car experience that although not done full miles it would prompt after a year or shorter if driven hard?

Thanks

It will count down in miles until it switches to 'A-G Service due in 30 days', and starts counting down in days, the service falling due 12 months after it was reset. If you go over it starts to say A/B Service overdue XX days. The service A_G are just an indication how many hours labour are expected.

Or you can reset it yourself........

This applies to the Mercedes W211 E Class and the Mercedes W219 CLS class.

W211 E class As of 1/9/03 and all W219 CLS Class

a) Turn ignition key to '1'
b) Press the lower system selection button (left hand edge of steering wheel) until you have the Basic display with mileage or temperature in the display
c) Press the odometer reset button briefly 3 times and you see the voltage display on the cluster and a ping is heard
d) use the scroll down arrow button until you see the 'Service menu'
e) Use +/- buttons to select the menu item "Confirmation" then press the lower system selection button to confirm ("Complete service" is highlighted in display)
f) Confirm full service by pressing lower system selection button ("Service Confirmed" appears)
g) Press top system selection button until you get back to Service menu
h) Use +/- buttons to select the 'Special Work' menu and Press the lower system selection button to confirm
i) Use +/- buttons to select Service 13 & press lower system selection button to confirm
j) Use +/- buttons to select the oil grade you used & press lower system selection button to confirm (nb, where only 1 grade of oil is allowed, there wont be a selection available)
k) repeatedly press bottom system selection button until out of service mode

If the car you're viewing hasn't had a service since Oct 2010 the I would ask questions.

I would guess the current owner has reset the service indicator as above sometime in the past 25 months since it's last service.....
