The ML I am collecting was serviced (service 4) in 2019 at around 74k. Since then it has only covered 1.1k miles to date. The last service was the big service B. So it has not done the miles, but has done the time as it was serviced in Feb 2019. Currently it has 75.5k on the clock. What is the next service and any idea on price? Will have to get it done to keep up the servicing for the breakdown cover.

Sorry to say bur B is not a big service. It's an oil change A service plus a more in depth inspection (but not as deep as an MoT. All sorts of other stuff comes in as extra depending on time and mileage.

Next service will be the small A service, interval is 12 months or 15.5k miles whichever comes first. What MB don't tell you is that certain items (air filter, fuel filter) are 4 years and extra, brake fluid is 2 years and extra, only "extra" included on a B over an A is pollen filter and more detailed inspection.

If car is over 3 years old, look for a recommended indie near you instead of using the main dealer, you'll get better service and save a shed load on money. However, what is the age of the car, and what is the breakdown cover you're concerned about? If It's MB Mobilo and the car is over 3 years old you'll save money by having the car serviced by a decent indie and taking out separate breakdown cover! Need more detail about car and service history to give proper advice!

64 plate ML350, 75.5k miles. Ah, right, he B service it had Feb 2019, stated that engine oil/filter, gearbox oil/filters etc, brake fluid replaced, Adblue etc What is the big service then?

No such thing as a big service...some items are time bound (eg annual oil chnage) , others are mileage bound (ATF change, which is alternatively every 5 years...) so full under the A or B category...

The key to remember is, as noted above, the headline price does not include extras such as brake fluid, spark plugs, air filters..

MB is running a 20% off offer on prepaid service plans, which bizarrely does cover everything needed service wise.

It is confusing model but worth spending time researching..

This will tell you what the car is due:

And this is the cost for fixed-rate dealer service plan:

(Keep in mind that ESS is generic and not specific to your particular car, so youll need to know the cars service history because some of the items required may have already be done ahead of schedule etc.)
