Hi everyone, just had my S500 in for major 'B' service using service+. I know people on here have had problems with service+ but this was not the case with my service. Car was booked in & when i turned up a new CLK was waiting for me as a loan car (very impressed with this model, never driven one before, loved it). When i booked the car in i asked for the gearbox oil to be changed, car had done 40K. I was told that it was sealed for life according to Mercedes & did not need changing & that service+ would certainly not pay for it. I asked them to phone Service+ & request authorization for it to be done knowing people on here had been succesfull before. If they would not pay for it i told them i would pay myself as i wanted it done. When i went to pick the car up the gearbox oil had been changed & service+ had agreed to pay for it. The total bill for all the work done was £1974. The work done was all fluid changes (oil, brakes, coolant, gearbox etc) plugs, various filters & brakes. This was my second service with service+ & I certainly think i've had value for money. I have been paying £65.00 a month for 2 years & have had various repairs & MOT's & services paid for. I can understand why its been discontinued.
As a side note i have always had a problem with the sunroof opening & closing, mostly not closing properly. The service manager told me they had installed a new software update that Mercedes had released for the sunroof due to the number of problems they have had. The sunroof is now working correctly. If any members are having the same problems it might be worth getting the software update.
My wifes car is due to be changed shortly, after driving that CLK I think she might be getting one of these now!

Echos my experience with Service Plus

The dealer actually told me the ATF needed changing at 40k and this was done, all under Service Plus.

Gear changes are now so smooth, can't believe they are supposed to be sealed for life.

My car was serviced yesterday under Service Plus. No problems (other than they said they had washed it, but had not again!) although there was a recomendation to change the brake fluid together with a quote. Not sure why I got it and not Service Plus, but will find out when it goes back for an update to be applied.

The only think i was surprised about was that they did not top the washer bottle up. They said this was not covered by service+.

They did not touch my gearbox fluid, but then they wouldn't as they replaced the gearbox 3,000 miles ago. I am also surprised at the Washer Bottle, given that the bill was nearly £2k you would think they might have managed it on a goodwill basis. I think they did do mine, as the warning had just started coming on before the vists.

Your payments are also much less than mine - I pay £130 for 25,000 miles per annum.

LOL It is true that washer fluid is not covered under Service Plus, that said they have always done mine!

My payments are for 10K/Year, 2 year contract. When i asked them for 3 years they quoted £92/month.

I've just, today, had a bill from them for going over the mileage quoted - £182  Will be asking for the calculation but still has been good value. Pity it's over :( :(

How far over the aggreed mileage were you?

I'm curious on how they calculate the penalty

On my contract its 8p/mile over the agreed annual milage. 10K in my case.

Interestingly I was looking at my paperwork yesterday. MB had a problem with mileage on my car after Doncaster decided to put it on the system with 20,000 miles more than it had. Although this was corrected (and I had a chat with Service Plus at the start of the contract, in fact they were the ones who first alerted me to the problem) they seem to have a start mileage of about 53,000 miles. The car has now done 42,000 so I wonder whether I have got 20,000 miles for free? Should not make a difference anyway as my mileage if anything is going down.

Service Plus

- good points: my B service was almost £1000...I did not have to pay a penny. Got a full MB 4 wheel laser alignment done (normal cost £145) at no cost under Service Plus though I thought that was not covered under the scheme.

- bad points: they gave my wife a Daewoo Matiz hire car. It was so bad she took it back after driving it less than a mile.

Dunno and that's my gripe which I will resolve hopefully when I call them. If it's 8 p per mile that would suggest I've done more than 2275 miles over which is prob about right. My mileage has gone up over the past two years as my circumstances changed rather dramtically not long after taking out the contract. I don't have an issue with it tbh - but would just like to ee the calc.

At my last service, three weeks ago, I had new pads all round and new discs on the rear all courtesy of Service Plus. I shudder to think what I would have had to pay for that lot.

That's the dealer not Service PLus. I've only ever had good courtesy cars. Always Always MBs.

Does your service+ include tyres, they were certain i could not have mine tracked as i did not have tyre cover under my contract

Service Plus works for me. As it stands i will also have to pay a penalty for going over the mileage. I am discussing with them at the mo to see if they will increase my annual mileage from from 15K to 20K. I am happy to pay a difference as i still have over 2 years to run.

You do realis the Sevice Plus will not cover parts that were not fitted to the car when it left the factory (0r dealer on first sale)?

Plus any of those mods you have made could jepodise any components that are covered if MB or dealer believe the mod (excluding oficial MB retrofits / mods carried out using genuine MBparts) adversely affected said part....
