hi
Just bought my first merc E class.
No service record. Dealer 'The Car Shop' says :digital service record? Does anyone know where to find it digitally or who to contact please?
Also there wasnt a V5 log book when sold but i was informed that they have applied to DVLA and i will recieve one.
I checked HPI myself and no issues thankfully.

Also is it original mercedes Benz best to get some electrical things srted ? --> eg : hand parking brake, parkin sensors etc seem not functioning properly!! or can any mechanic garage do it at all?.
Thank you
Kind regards
Suman

Go to a Mercedes dealer when you get the V5, they can provide you with a printout of the digital record.

I'm sure someone on here will be able recommend a good Mercedes specialist local to you.
But if you've just bought this car, surely the garage you bought it from should be fixing any issues?

So you’ve bought a car with no V5, no service history, presumably no warranty and you are having electrical issues?

Take it back for a refund

How did you pay the DVLA for the Vehicle Tax without a V5?

No V5, no Service Record, Electrical Problems!
You are asking in the wrong place, you need to go back to the "dealer" that sold you this and get your money back.

The Car Shop has more exclamation marks on its website than it does cars in stock....and i gave up counting their spelling mistakes....

They said V5 is there but missing and applied to DVLA and it needs changing to new ownership; service: they said:digital and the cant access but they did one and gave a card proof of service; warranty:they sold me some extended warranty but am not sure if they cover these things and i thought best to get it looked by some one else and make a list of what needs doing before i bark on them; hence requesting advice from expert in tis forum.

They some how paid the tax for this vehicle while i was there and gave me a prof for car tax with a reference number: I thought motor dealers have that facility to do so?.I will wait couple of weeks and take it on them if things dont fall in line !!?

Garage: i am losing some trust on them.hence preparing for a plan B ahead and requesting experts here.

V5 is "there" but also "missing". I have no idea what that means.
Sounds very much like they had the V5 and have simply done the change of ownership.
They should have given you the new keeper section.

No reason why they cannot access the Digital Service Book (DSB) other than the fact they can't be bothered or perhaps don't want you to see this.
I can acccess this and we are not a big retailer of cars. ;)

You have an Extended Warranty for a car with known faults!
Parking brake not working is a major fault and you should not have been given the car with the fault.

I'd return it now.

sound all wrong from start to finish.

I would check car 100% or have it checked asap and put all issues in writing

From my experience and from reading site any electrical issue with a merc can and usually are very expensive and require a Merc specialist with star system or you risk wasting parts or further damage.

as for warranty, personally I don't think most of them after market ones are worth the paper they written on, even if it was, its an existing fault and doubt would be covered and any items that have just worn out would not be covered

I bought from a trader a 4-years old car with no service history.

The day after I bought the car, I walked into the local Mercedes-Benz dealership, showed them the paperwork I had (no V5C yet) and a photo ID, and they gave me a printout of the service history on the spot.

Incidentally, it had complete main dealer history :thumb:, the trader just couldn't be bothered to obtain it, so preferred to sell the car as 'no service history'. Go figure...

The Consumer Protection Act says that a second hand car should be sold with no material defects (this applies to trade sales only, not to private sellers).

A defective parking brake must be fixed by the seller free of charge, that's the law. The 'extended warranty', if provided, protects the seller more than it protects the buyer.

Defective parking sensors is another matter and it depends on the age of the car, on an older car it might not be considered a 'material defect'.

But before you do any of that... check the owners manual online to ensure that you understand how these things are meant to work, and drive the car to charge the battery to ensure that you do not have a partially-discharged battery which can cause electrical issues.

I have contacted the car shop head office and reported the issue of hand brake. she went bonkers and said 'how did they allow you to drive home'?. got a call from local car shop where car was sold to me. He says ;go to local garage and check it and invoice them or go to halfords but says 'DON'T go to mercedes and if i do, they will not reimburse me'.
so booked for halfords next week to look at it.
Thanks guys for all the expert opinions and comments.much appreciated.
best wishes

If they didn't want you to take it to Mercedes to get fixed then they should not have sold you a duff car.

So they want you to pay for the repair and then hope they refund you!

Most people on here advised you to return it, if you want to take a chance then best of luck to you.
