Here's the dilemma - my 2008 CLS needs a 'B' service and is now 28 days overdue (on date not miles). I have been quoted £433 by my local main dealer in East Sussex and even more by an independent in Worthing! A 'regular' garage will no doubt be cheaper, but would they be able to service the car correctly or should I just pay the money for peace of mind?

The car has done under 7000 miles since the service last year - how long can I realistically leave it before before booking it in for it's service?

Servicing a car is not rocket science. Nowadays there is less to do than in the old days. Anyone can do oil and filters and the visual checks. Then plug it in for the rest. A regular garage would probably employ a mechanic to do the job...the main dealer...who knows?

Plenty of places in East Sussex - Rivervale Mercedes (next door to the Main Dealer in Portslade), John Haynes, AJ Robertson, Autovets, etc

Info on service intervals will be in the handbook

Having the same dilemma with my 1992 500 SL.
Was just quoted 546 by a regular garage that replaced my radiator on it last yr and that's for full service Inc all oils Inc transmission oiland filter from merc.
Seems real steep but I wouldn't let merc dealer touch it and specialists are around 80mile round trip

You will often find that us specialists will do a better job overall as we tend to care about your business and keeping it.
