C180K Avantgarde SE Sport
Just had my wifes Fiesta serviced at Arnold Clark at a cost of £117 (and this included the MOT):D . Made me think though - am I as well to service my C180k (W203) there and have a 40 ish point service done rather than £350 by Merc dealer for the Merc service?

What does everyone think? Merc isn't due the service for c.10k miles so can save a bit yet.

It will affect your warranty and when you come to sell it, people like to see FMBSH.

How much of a difference do you think it would make?

Lots of threads about this.

Full MBSH adds intrinsic value and makes the car easier to sell on
Without it you lose Mobilolife which not only gives you a very good Eurppean breakdown cover but is is the means by which MB warrant for bodywork corrosion etc.

Worth browsing through the forum on this one

Hmmm, if it's traded in, they'll just nail you anyway regardless. Once a car is past the 5 year mark.... pass on the stealers.

Ha Ha !!

Some great stuff on that AC website .... :D

OK so after reading the AC website stuff will steer clear! Anyone know any other decent garages to have a C180k serviced without being fleeced in Edinburgh/Livingston?

i was told by Merc garage that the paintwork is guaranteed, regardless of service history. They said that if there was corrosion within 6 months of purchase (from anyone) and there was corrosion, they would check quality of merc paintwork, respray with a percentage monetary contribution from me. After 6 months, paintwork contribution was nil. The reason for the contribution was to stop dealers from having resprays prior to selling on......sounds too good to be true, but I interrogated the Merc chap and his story never faltered!!!!

So the paintwork gtee is independant of a merc service history? Surely then I can service anywhere and still maintain the paintwork gtee?
