merc c250 cdi
hi im getting a c250 cdi on lease pretty soon
how does the servicing work on a leased merc
do i have to take to the local benz garage or can i take to a mercedes specialist to save a bit of money
thanks for any replies in advance.

cheers dsm.

i just read on another thread that whoever services you car, it wont show up on the mercedes computer that its been serviced unless done by mercedes themselves, regardless of what the service book says.

How about using the MB service plans? For fixed monthly payments you should cover all servicing costs?

Maybe. I'd rather pay for the service in one go so I was looking at prices from independant mercedes specialists for the service. if the price is not too outrageous from mercedes then id get it done from there but if i can get away with the independant dealers then why not.

Check the terms and conditions of your lease, legally as long as the car is serviced in accordance with the MB schedule and original equipment parts are used then Mercedes should not quibble.

Note the use of "should"

This only applies if you own the car. If you lease (or PCP) it, then the finance company owns it, so it's up to them to decide on servicing.

For Mercedes, regardless of who the leasing company is, the finance is often provided by MB themselves and they insist on using authorised service locations.

It's interesting that some of the big company car fleet providers seem to be using fast fit type of places now for servicing, but I've mainly seen complaints from Audi and BMW drivers about that, I can't recall seeing anyone with a Mercedes making such a comment.

That is why I suggested checking the terms and conditions of the lease.

Any good independent will also be registered with mercedes benz & will be allowed to update the Digital service reports. We do for all new cars.

I would suggest checking the small print of contract.

We do done lease cars no problem & lease companies are happy with it, but some do stipulate Main dealer only. One customer last month was told that it had to be dealer only otherwise be a penalty when the car goes back of lease.
Am sure he said it was either £800 or £900 penalty
