Shaving brake pads

sorted..all brake pads have been shaved 5mm (milling machine used) new brake lines,all bled and all is working purrrrfect :bannana::bannana::bannana:Just a shame it's pissing down in Hastings so I can't go for a cruise with all my windows down:(. Anyways cheers for all the comments by fellow members:thumb:
 
iv been following this thread and im a bit confused ? pics of the prob would have been helpful ? but it is fixed now so it seems ?
 
As the pads wear, the outboard part of the caliper moves inwards away from the wheel. With new pads, the outboard part of the caliper was at its maximum distance outwards, away from the centre of the car. That distance outwards was too close to the wheel, so they touched. When the new wheels were fitted, the pads were worn, so the caliper was further in than with new pads, so they did not touch. Shaving the pads effectively turned new pads into part-worn pads, so now the wheel and caliper do not touch.

Next time buy another member a new set of pads and have their old ones.
