These 5 cylinder diesels were reckoned to be a cracking engine with right blend of power and economy - SBC brakes mind. Looks in pristeen nick for its age.

Sorry, missed your post, I really rate the 270 CDi engine; plenty of power yet returns 50+mph for fun.

It's had the SBC pump done in the last 10k and the reconditioned gearbox too.

I'm fairly sure a chap on here called Airportstar or similar put up an E220CDI with 600,000 miles on it a while back.

I think it was still running fine but can't remember now.

I had a 211 E320CDI recently as a courtesy car from an Merc independent local to me whilst they updated my Vdoc on my CLS, it hadn't covered quite the mileage of this 270 but was within 10k of it and the car was near mint the only wear was on the driver's seat and drove in some respects better than my 75k CLS (engine mounts were shot).
I liked it so much I made him an offer on it, but it wasn't for sale .

W211's do 'wear well', the only real sign on this one is one the steering wheel but even that looks like it's down to an over-eager cleaning attack!
