Hi all,
Just looking for a bit of advise and recommendation...
The engine warning light has come on my 56 Reg C180k. Not sure exactly why, the only thing I can think is that my friend who took it for a spin was using the tiptronic gearshift and dropped down from 4-3-2 too quickly. This caused the car to jolt and the engine to scream due to the increased rpm. The next time I started the car up, this light came on.
Took it for Star Diagnostic and the following error codes were displayed:
2054-001: Continuous camshaft adjustment, Incorrect position of the intake camshaft (P0010)
2054-002: Continuous camshaft adjustment, Incorrect position of the exhaust camshaft (P0020)
Having searched tirelessly on numerous forums and speaking the with the guys at the electroncis/diagnostic garage, they think its a mechanical fault related to the timing chain which may have been stretched??
Does anyone have any ideas or any further explanation?
Also, if anyone could recommend any specialists in the Sheffield area who could look at this I would be grateful.
I'm reluctant to drive the car at the minute as I don't want to cause further damage!!
Thanks!
