Just filled up with Shell Diesel (again) and got handed a Shell Drivers Club Card...thought I may as well sign up as I may get something back for all the money I spend with them....took the form home to fill in and then realised that you get 1 point for each litre of fuel, or basically 1 point fore each £ spent.

500 points are worth £2.50 in vouchers to be used against purchase of fuel.....thus you have to spend £500 to get £2.50 back!! This amounts to 1/2% cashback.....not exactly being generous are they?

Oh, and if I did not want to put the vouchers towards the cost of fuel, Shell have generously offered to match the number of points if I donate my points to a "CO2 Reduction Scheme" (whatever that is)!!

Its better than nothing :) Its not like shell fuel is any more expensive and its better and now money off ? :)

I've got an Egg Money card and they have recently being giving me 2% cash back when I fill up at Shell. 1% for everything else.

It's better than a kick up the shorts.

Just checked and the Shell offer has now finished. Sorry

The morrisons miles card is pretty good - you don't have to sign up to it, i.e. give personal information, just swipe the card when you fill up at morrisons and every 5000 points gets you a £5 gift voucher back - i get one every 5-6 tankfuls

But that means buying supermarket fuel as against Shell, no brainer in my book :D

I use the Shell Drivers Club card ... it costs nothing, and every now and then I get some Argos vouchers (my choice of 'reward') as a little gift! :)

I collect Shell points via driver club. As I use V Power and a V power member I get double points.
I don't go for the vouchers I go for Airmiles. I get ~1000 airmiles in a year enough for a flight to Europe. I used to use the Shell Citibank M/C. This gave me 2% cashback on fuel as well as the drivers club points. But i've had to stop using it as we now have to use our company fuel card.

Get a Shell Citi Mastercard, and you get 3% cash back on fuel from Shell Stations and 1% cash back on all other purchases if you've purchased Shell fuel that month. It comes off the next credit card statement as a credit.

Then on a quarterly basis I get rebate from my Shell Drivers Club Card, paid directly on to the credit card statement - used to get vouchers.

1/2% is absolutely worth it IMHO. Add it to the the 1-3% above and it works out just nicely for me.

Did not know about V-power double points.....Citi card seems to make sense!

Sign for Key Fuel Card on a MBNA Platinum Card and you`ll be flying with rewards...every 3 months you get cash back, free tickets, half price hotels/flights/holidays.
Another one is Nectar Amex Card ...get points for any fuel and cash back.

I do have Key fuel for my business for the past 3 years and never had a problem so far. Monthly invoice is easy for anyone. Try to get credit up to 60 days ( best option ). Key Fuel Card requires only minimum spend/month £300 which is not bad:)
Good luck.

Ps. If you bank with hsbc business , talk to them about this:)

Received a letter a week or so ago saying that the rebates are chaning on the Shell Citi Mastercard - IIRC with effect from October.

Shell fuel: Now 3%, reducing to 1%
All other purchases*: Now 1%, reducing to 0.25%

* Providing that Shell fuel has been purchased in the same month.

So the search starts for a better deal...

Oh no, not again..........

maybe - but i noticed the differnece from the 1st tank (much better) and Shell diesel has been 1p cheaper that morrisons round by me until recently.
PLus - i got a £3.50 voucher from my points too; so still cheaper than Morrisons despite the price war brewing. not sure about next tank full though:crazy:

Received a letter this week saying that the card is being removed with effect from the 1 January 2010. I can still carry on using it, after that date although the account will have been transferred to a Citi Platinum - a new card will arrive in the New Year.

Letter said Shell are working on other member benefits and more will be known in the New Year. I'm off though: American Express Platinum Cash Back Credit Card seems the next best rebate card, although I think it's an annual rebate rather than monthly as per Shell Citi Mastercard.

Yes, I've been using my AMEX at Shell now, since the Shell Citi Mastercard stopped doing their 3% cashback.

It is an annual rebate, the amount earned over the past year gets knocked off the bill on the anniversary of opening your account. Obviously only works if you pay your bill off in full every month, otherwise the interest will wipe out the savings made.

I don't use that much fuel (I commute by train), so was very pleased to receive a token for a £10 gift voucher from my Drivers Club points last week :)

I got a fuel voucher worth £12.50 last week from Shell. Now before I buy anything I check the shellonlineshopping site to see if I can buy through that to get points! It's only really a money saving if you were going to buy it anyway.
