Shocking insurance quotes!

I have trouble understanding some of the insurance quote threads and posts on here.

Admittedly I have a clean driving record, but the car sits on the drive at night, it's an E320CDI estate, fully comp with full business use, £150 total excess - and I still can't get the quote to exceed £300!

What am I doing wrong?

I'm well under the £300 barrier too but I put it down to being an old git :dk::dk::dk::dk:

Your age most probably. :D

In my instance I was quoting the most expensive, Got a quote from 1st Central for F.C protected for £379 which is a bit more what I was expecting.........young (ish!) with 3 points.

Yeah, you're both on the money - I am an old git!

But my insurance has never been what I would regard as expensive, even when I was younger and driving XJS's. I had my first before I was 30, and I have never had quotes over £320...

Just a little fortunate too I guess.

I guess it is a lottery. It makes NO sense whatsoever.

I know for a fact my insurance on a one-off turbo charged Toyota Celica with over double power, used daily and business use cost me £380 FC with 6 points.

2 years later I move from a ZZT Celica with basic mods, to a C200 auto and I am paying £just under £400, though I now only have 3 points, due to be clear in January. Funny thing is, if my Merc was Turbo'd with Stand Alone ECU etc, i would pay in the £300s.

I just don't get it.

Guys, I think you're forgetting the fact is that the insurance has become MORE expensive over the years.

So it doesn't make sense to compare what you were paying, when you were in your mid 20's back in 2000 and what 20 year olds pay nowadays, you know what I mean?

The most ridiculous thing that I can remember is when I got my NCB back in August 2010, my insurance was supposed to go DOWN, and it did....about 20p.

No wonder there are so many people driving without insurance.
