Now have a nice CLK 270 CDI for sale

If you were going to sell it why did you just not put a second hand box on it for a quarter of the cost ?

Your nuts if you sell it now. As pointed out above the rad will be fine.
Only a batch was faulty. Done some digging around.
Also the people on here are clued up.

I'm swapping mine as soon as possible. Got emails flying everywhere for prices.

Some facelift models are using A2115000200 (Behr M8740001) type radiator, which can be installed in series of current rad (or so I've been told in Finnish forum). Plastic shroud in needed (installed by rivets), and new hoses.

When refilling the coolant, is it ok to use the halfords premixed orange stuff ??

Think you are only meant to use the recommended anti freeze which I believe is the blue stuff . I'm sure I've heard before it's a bad idea to mix the two types so if it had blue in before I'd stick to the same on refill. I'm sure though that someone else will confirm or reject this.

Ok. I can get 5L of the Titan blue stuff from europarts.

How many Litres of fluid does the system hold ? And what's the mix 50/50 ???

So stick in 5l of antifreeze and top up with water ??

TJC. lol. How much do I whack in ?

Use a 50/50 mix water /antifreeze -----premix it before adding is the best approach if you are uncertain how much you need to add.

Oh Christ. What a mission. The rad has never been changed. Old valeo one.

Radiator hoses had to be cut off. Corroded on

Also the ATF solid pipes connecting to the radiator had rusted through. Had to cut them off too

Car in bits !!! Not good

I take it then that you had a problem and changed it rather than just out of panic over it being a valeo radiator. After all it was a small proportion of them that had the prob and as the old saying goes if it ain't broke don't fix it.

I was loosing coolant.

Damaged hose in the end. But glad I found the corroded ATF pipes. They were mashed. Just fell apart in my hands. So all good. Apart from the ball ache of pulling half the car apart.

Are the hoses a mb direct part ??
