Should I go for E320?

Hi,
I’ve just seen an ad for a mint 2001 E320CDi estate which I’m considering as the family Volvo is looking weather worn.
However, I’ve just been onto a well known review site and the reviews were not what I expected.
Bills worth more than the car loom on the horizon – failing glow plugs (4K), leaking radiators that ruin into the auto box (4k) , collapsing front suspension, failing engine mounts and LCD dashboards and coking diesel engines and even serious RUST !
Are these common experiences as I think it’s a beautiful car ? Perhaps I should stick with C250TD’s?
Kind regards

Some of the above have been found on many cars. But not all. I bought mine in February. I have replaced the thermostat, and the front springs. The exhaust was repaired and an injector seal. Cost so far this year about £150. Springs were provided by the seller.

Have seen 50 mpg and goes like a train.

If the one you are looking at is mint then you have no problem with rust. Engine mounts are cheap to replace. Glow plugs (if needed) will cost no where near £4k. The rad problem was not on this model. Front spring perches should be inspected, but the problem is by no means universal ( if the underseal is broken then get them checked). Fortes will sort out a smokey engine.

Oh, by the way, welcome to the forum. Loosecanon...you are a photographer??

I was going to say how the hell do failed glow plugs cost 4k??? Its a fraction of that cost to replace the whole lot.

Thanks for the feedback.
It's an 2001 E320CD with 140k on the clock and FMBSH, seemed reasonable at 4-5K. Will call for an appointment this weekend.

I could have included the URL for the web-site but as a newbie not sure of the etiquette for such things.

Sadly my username is not related to my camera. Personally prefer manual Nikons and Pentax :-)

I recommend going for the e320. They are good cars. I have a E430 and no major problems over 5 years.
