Should my antenna unscrew?

I had problems with my seized antenna on my CLK convertible (A208) so I ordered a second hand replacement off ebay. It came as a full assembly, including mast, base and amplifier. The thing is I can't unscrew this one either so am thinking about returning it, but now I am questioning whether they are in fact removable.

I assumed it could be unscrewed for car wash, car cover etc. but there's no mention in the handbook. Anyone know?

I know the one on the SL unscrews but it’s a small stubby one.
I’m sure the CLK one must be detachable but if it’s not been removed for some time it could be seized on.
