I've currently got the diamond cut 19s but they're in poor condition, I'm
Being advised against having them diamond cut by the majority of company's I ring...and therefore I'm tempted to have them done in sayin black with a polished lip like the edition125...can anyone share any opinions or pictures about this...bear in mind I've an 08 c63 with a carbon lip and edition 125 rear lights

Thanks

Refurb wont last, that is for sure. I would go satin black and no polished lip. You can search for my other threads on wheels. I used plastidip on my winter wheels as and experiment, in black, and I think it looks good. Also, I would consider carbon dipping the wheels especially if you are into carbon. I was also considering black chrome finish.

Do post up some pics of before and after.

there all right about the diamond cut,the weather in this country kills them.
no matter what you do water will get under the lacquer and destroy them very quickly.
if your going for a full refurb you want them powder coated.
ther are some great techniques from good wheel refurbers now.
i had my 18 amg,s powder coated, black base then chrome flashed over them.
they look great and very durable.

My estate is iridium silver with the black 19's. I am biased but think the silver / black combo looks great. I have also got gloss black wing mirrors, DRL housings, rear badges and emblems and rear boot strip. Probably going to change chrome roof rack and window strips to gloss black soon as well.

the wheel specialist manchester depot.
complete strip
powder coat
black base
flash chrome.

This is what confuses me, i see various other C63s with the 19" wheels that don't look hardly corroded, yet the lacquer is literally peeling off the back two of mine!

I did want diamond cut, but here are a few other thoughts...I definitely want the silver lip as I think without they look a bit cheap tbh!

Currently:

Black:

Shadow chrome
Or something:

Smoked chrome:

Opinions?

I really like those tbh, so indecisive

Anymore for anymore

Look up the 19s on a DR520 - I love them. Think a sheen or matt finish will also be pretty nice.

Are they like a Matte grey? I'm really not keen if I'm honest, look too much of a rattle can job IMO.

I wish I could have lasting diamond cut:

as long as there is no deep curb damage you can have the edges cleaned re cut and centres matt/gloss/satin like tjr,s but be prepared to have them redone once the sunmmers out of the way or if you wash them alot! i agree the diamond cut looks so much better its just to smooth a surface for the lacquer to stick to 1 stone chip and the waters in.
i was convinced not to have mine re cut and flash/smoked/shadow chromed does have a similar effect but lasts due to the powder coat base.

Do you have some more pics mate? There is some quite deep curb marks yeah? I was told this was repairable with welding

if you got some deep curb marks they can,t be machined it takes to much of the rim edge and it then acts like a knife edge not good against tyres!.sorry mate can,t put anymore pics up until i have a 30 post count but will give you the link were i had mine done cost me about £280 with new valves and caps and they were as new condition to be honest they were better.
they were very helpful as i wanted mine diamond cut but to had the odd deep curb mark and could not have them done.they showed me some examples. they had different finishes for different style alloys and the finish was just as good or better than the diamond cut finish which cost a lot more.

Alloy wheel refurbishment and repair - Quality refurbished wheels

click on my name and then on my first post and you can see mine on my car with the chrome over black.

I was told by one company they can weld the marks and then machine it is this not true?

Also I was quoted £375 by the wheel specialist in Leeds, how did you manage so much cheaper haha?

I'll have a look now thankyou :)

Okay, so I may have found what I'm gonna go for:

Opinions?

them slk 55,s look the part yours are similar. thats what i had on mine flash chrome i can vouch for these guys they do a top job.
i think there was an offer on when i had mine done so i jumped on it! and remember yours are 19,s mine 18,s so will be a little bit more expensive but they are well worth it and i think look better and more "custom" than having what everybody else has. i get constant complements about the finish on mine as they look different from different angles, you won,t be disappointed.
and most important they are durable and last!.
as for the price haggle it! tell them you have had lower quotes but have heard good things about them you no the score!.
but take into account for the price they will be back to new condition.

Gonna go see the place tomorrow, anybody have any mot opinions?
