HI guys
Enquired about touch up paint Silver Code 199 and was informed there are 5 different shades for this colour do you know if this is correct.
I took the car to one paint supplier that does aerosol sprays which would be handy but he said they only supply the standard code 199 in the aeresol and touch up.

Norman

DB199 is blue/black , the colour of my W126

Are we talking MB or LEXUS here?? LEXUS PAINT CODE 199 is Lucerne Silver and the lower grey trim is code 27/15---- The paint man is correct that metallic silver is often available in several "shades" depending on which paint batch was used on the production line. You must get an accurate match for your particular car or the touch up paint will stand out like a sore thumb!! Try to find out the name of the paint manufacturer to get the best match.

Always a number of versions of each colour, depending on how far along on the production line it was/how much paint the robot had left in its tank etc, the effects of UV on the paint etc etc

I'm trying to figure out why someone would post a question about LEXUS paint on a MERCEDES forum , without even mentioning that it was for another make !!!!!!!

Hi Derek
Yes sorry about that forgot to say it was for my Lexus I used to have a Mercedes, but this forum is full of knowledgable people and In my ignorance regards paint I thought paint code applied to all the cars regards the code number of silver 199.
The Lexus forum is about as much use as a chocolate fire guard regards information, once again my apologies also thanks to you other guys for the information

Some vehilcle refinisher suppliers will make an aerosol for you to match your car - just ring a couple then take the car along.
I used to go on the Lexus forum when I had a GS300 and it is a bit empty - part of the problem is that none of them have anything to fix ;)

That's what I have found Smiley I think unlike the Mercedes there aren't too many about in fact where I live I have seen the occasional Is200 but no GS300.
