I'm doing up an old Merc at the moment and as I have the engine out, I was wondering where I can get that aluminium sound deadening material that sticks to the back of the engine bay from?....the existing stuff is pretty shabby and could do with being replaced

Any idea who stocks this sort of thing?.....any names, telephone numbers etc?

I have found something similar, but it had no sound deadening attached to the back of the self adhesive 2mm quilted foil.

Many thanks

Is it Dynamat you're after?

If so - try here

Pammy,

Thanks for the quick response.....the link you provided was helpful, but unfortunately its not the stuff I'm looking for.

The stuff I'm looking for is about 2cm thick and has to be oil and heat resistant.

Many thanks though...much appreciated :)

I think dynamat would crumble in minutes if installed next to the engine!

You might find that there is an oem, specially shaped-piece of this stuff to fit your car, if not for your exact model then maybe another can be adapted?

mmm - hadn't thought about heat resistance :o in that case - there's this ;)

Pammy, you've come up trumps this time!

Just spoken with Noise Killer and they have the stuff I'm looking for.....wasn't exepecting it to be so expensive though....£75 for 2m x 1.2.

I'll have to do some measuring this weekend.

Thanks for your help :D
