Hi again everyone,
Having replaced the regulator in the R/H side door (drivers as this is a UK spec car) and got that working really well, the roof no longer works. It did work perfectly before the window regulator failed... Could be coincidence but...
What happens now is that the windows both go down, the rear of the roof lifts allowing the tonneau cover to lift as it should and then the whole process stops. There is no blinking light or any other sign of strain or failure.
The car has spent the past few days at MB Tech in Warrington fixing some other un-related issues and they have re-set the computer to no avail. Effectively they are saying that it could be 15 minute job or days trying to locate the problem.
Can anyone shed any light on this at all? I really can't afford an open chequebook to fix something that is almost certainly a switch or sensor..?
The car is one of the first 280's being a 1994 so does not have the newer window system that drops the windows when doors are opened. I believe that appeared in 1995.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys! Peter

SOLVED!
turns out it was the switch at the bottom of the door not making contact with the window coming down.
