Size of a R129 hardtop stand

hi guys

it's been awhile since I've been on here. Sold my C36 last year and missed MB ownership a lot so have been looking at buying an R129 SL.

One of the problems is if I buy one I'll need to transport the hard top stand seperately as it obviously won't fit in the back seat!

Anyone know if one would fit in the back of say a Mondeo hatchback?

My hard top stand is a fold down one which takes up very little room.

mine folds down but it only just fitted in a citroen picasso, it is because of the width of it. i guess there are various hard top stands out there so it depends on which one you have?

Mine too! They are the 'proper' stands, which were made by Wiesmann for MB, I think. I can't find the part no., but they are very robust.

As above, there are many different types of stand.

Mine came from an M-B dealer ... they used to store R129 hard tops over the summer, free of charge!

When they dropped this service they gave the stands away to those who had bought an R129 from them or used the service.

My stand is fixed (non-folding), and only just fitted into a VW Sharan with all the back seats removed!
