Hi Guys

Unfortunately tonight I reversed out from a friends drive and didn't realise that the front right of the car was not on the slop of the drive but on the kerb and subsequently banged down the kerb and nearly ripped my front spoiler off. What I have done is split the underneath of the spoiler and now have about a 3 inch piece ripped away from the skirt and still attached to it.:wallbash::wallbash::wallbash:

To say this has nearly made me feel physically sick is an understatement and I have to get this repaired.

Do any of your guys no anyone that could repair this for me in the Essex area and is really good with bodyworks? I would rather take recommendations then phoning out of the yellow pages.

Thanks

If it's plastic take the whole thing off and fibreglass it from the back

if you near bishop stortford i had some guys(friends) repair genuine AMG sides on my 210, and you could never tell the difference... PM me if you want more details

I can sympathise. I had my car 1 week when I did the same thing in my work car park.

The 1st quote was £1500 for a new bumper. The guy I went to took the bumper off, strengthened it and colour is perfect. Turns out it had happened before and didn't take much to tear it.
Total cost - £150.

When you say 'front spoiler' I take it you mean the front bumper, the section below the fog lamp? There is no spoiler as such as it is all one piece.

It looks expensive:

Mercedes AMG W204 C63 Front Bumper OEM on eBay (end time 18-Feb-11 11:42:55 GMT)

I'd do as Bolide says and then get a smart repair on the paint, black should hide it well.

Bad luck, but shyate happens...

Hi Si,

Yeah tell me about it....absolutely gutted mate, I'll take a picture in the light tomorrow and post it so you can see what I mean. Yeah its the bumber with the fog lights in it, right underneath and about a 3 inch piece ripped away..I reckon mate it could be hidden well but I no its there which really bugs me. If a really good repair could be done then I would be happy with that. Its not that bad to have to change the whole bumper. Just need a good recommendation which Sonny has offered to help which is really kind.

Sonny if I cant find anyone decent nearer to me I'll pm you for those details.

Cheers fella

Now thats what I'm talking about.... is your man anywhere near Essex mate?

Yes it doesn't look a very good design and looks as though this can get caught easily if you are parked on kerbs....So guys lesson there be careful with your C class's if you are parked on high kerbs.

Sorry to hear that

I'd suggest Coward Poppelwells just north of Epping on the old A11, if Geoff Coward still runs it used to deal with him and he ran a very good body shop.

As you can see guys this is one of those small idiotic mistakes I made but knowing this is there really bugs me....any ideas on how to fix this or would prefer to take it to a specialist of proper body shop.

Apologies for the huge photos I didn't know how to make these smaller.

Wowser, they are big?

Is that it? Superglue and a 'Obsidian Schwartz' touchup stick would be my first attempt. I would be pretty confident that a plastic specialist will be able to fix that. Dare I even suggest to just rip off the lose part?

I managed to pop my front foglamp last night, some huge stone has gone right throught the glass and destryed the whole fitting. Although I need to buy and fit a whole new foglamp I think I am lucky the bumper didn't take the impact. I woudl definitely suggest taping them up on track days.

Mate you know what I'm like :p....I know it dont look much but i know its there and bugs the hell out of me. I'm going to have a go at it myself at the weekend and gonna use some epoxy to glue it and see how it looks. If I don't like the end result I'll fidn a body shop to sort it properly.

You can get plastic welding kits for abs as a friend of mine did it on his motorbike fairings try demon tweeks motorcycle

Thanks mate, yeah thats not a bad idea I'll have a look at that now.:thumb:

When I read the thread initially I was expecting a massively split bumper!!!

A bodyshop can fix that very easily!:D

Benjy, i sent you a PM of my usual bodyshop in essex, give em a call

Hi Guys

Well my pal came through and fixed the split in my bumper which I have to say i am really pleased with. He had to heat the plastic to soften it enough to remold it back into shape and then used a glue that welded the two parts back together. A quick rub down with fine grain wet n dry, paint, lacquer, job done. The only thing now that I am not happy with is that the line between the bumper and the wing where they meet, is not perfect where I pulled the bumper over the curb and the gap gets slightly bigger from top to bottom. Now to fix this issue will mean stripping back the whole bumper of the car and removing it which I am not too keen on and have a choice. Just to live with this which I am not sure if I can or have the whole front taken of. I didnt even recognise the gap until the car was up on the ramp and can see the lining underneath wasnt perfect.:wallbash::wallbash::wallbash:

What would you do in this situation, would be good to get some views from you guys!:thumb:

Cheers
Benjy
