SL 350 .may have a roof problem

My 04 SL 350's boot is stopping about 2 inches from the flush closing position when I open or close the roof . If I release the operating switch and then re engage it the boot then closes to the flush position . I have had it for 4 years and up to a month ago it has always closed on the first operation.

I wondered if anyone else has expereinced this problem and has any suggestions please ?
