SL 55 intakes fitted

The stopwatch cant measure hp and torque. Its just for track laps, yes, all Racing teams use stopwatches but they use dynes too.

To do a successful dyne test. You should take both intakes the same day and test your car under the same conditions.

Your exhaust is an aftermarket double twin isn't it Elvin? Would that effect the map Jerry sent? This is aimed at Savman more than Elvin really, and just as a point of interest from me rather than anything else as I'd assume back pressures maybe different to standard?

Times acceleration runs can be used to calculate available power and torque for a given mass, but irrespective the stopwatch will show any improvement or not due to a particular modification.

When I went down the strip, Santa pod raceway didn't have any laps to time... :dk:

As usual the O/p is using anecdotal information and an unreliable dyno reading to raise the pub loo chalk line.

It's easy. Measure out 400m on a flat road, sprint from rest to the end marker and time it, before and after any mod.

Yes exhaust is aftermarket and I did mention it to Jerry..

Measure 400m on a flat road and do timed runs????

I'll nip down the site on Monday and see if I can find a groundworker to lend me a click wheel and some spray paint....Then I'll hunt for a nice flat road and get started....

I'll post the results,provided I don't get knocked down in the process:D

At the end of the day I'm not looking for 0-60 times...Or track times...

If I wanted that then I'd be up Santa Pod all the time.....Yes I think we all like the numbers you get from dyno runs and yes we know the figures can differ considerably but I like the fact that when I feel the need to put my foot down whether evasive or not,it's there...
And above all... It's fun:D

If that. I can't see Mercedes fitting undersize or constricted air trunking on an AMG model. It would have been interesting to see actual pressure drop readings, before and after change.
I gained 33bhp with the sl55 intakes and a retune !!!!

Hmmm I'm not so sure about departing with the dough for this mod now! I'm always sceptical of huge variance in outputs on the same cars with the same mods! The only difference I can see is Elvins aftermarket exhaust.......

What were your before and afters again?

Think it was 345before and 378after
Im not convinced on a 406hp car I'll see 25-30hp gain from this mod! Jerry has said I should see that gain but I remember in a post some time ago Savman suggesting with a pulley, map and sl intakes it would be very unlikely a C32 would make 430+hp levels! I'd love to make those gains but I'm still on the fence!

A 10% increase. You should have timed some rolling acceleration runs as that would be clearly noticeable.

10% you could time on a wrist watch :-)

So what is the consensus here? Do the intakes make some noticeable gains and if not why would some of the most respected tuners say they do?

Mine lost 24hp!!! The map has been adjusted since then as the afr's were way off on the dyno!

A few c32 owners who used these intakes made noticeable hp increases. Lipsy made impressive figures.

I only made 8hp but made an extra 40ftlbs though they are not back to back readings but were on the same dyno...

Personally I'm more than pleased with the intakes:thumb:

Fair enough and great news and it makes sense, but why do we have posters saying they don't  I'm confused!
