Has anyone successfully waterproofed a central locking pump in a SL (R230) ?
I realise the answer is to replace all roof seals but cost rules this out at present.
I once used Lithium grease on a window motor plug to protect from the wet, very, very messy but very effective.
No idea how that would work out on the vacuum pump on your particulate car.

I spray coated mine in Holts Ignition Sealer from Halfords. It forms a watertight plastic coating but is electric friendly.
If it worked 50 years ago on distributers exposed to the rain just inside a mini grille there is no obvious reason why it wont protect the pumps in an R230 boot.
Is the big foam protective block on top of the pump also dripping ?
Dry it out totally, I was able to use radiators in the winter, then carefully wrap it in cling film and put it back. It still protects as it should but doesnt get waterlogged and drip down on to the electrics.
Waterproofing the boot seals is the long term fix but the above will help until you get there

By the way there are DIY fixes that dont mean complete seal replacement. The cheapest is a diy job on the other site documented by Malcom ( username Television ). It involves sealant and bits of hose but is apparently totally successful for pennies.
Malcolm is no longer on that site.
