SL for £10-12k: 129 or 230????

In this month's MB Club Gazette there's a 1997 SL500 in black with FSH, 34,000 miles and a Panoramic roof which seems to be being sold by the owner's daughter due to the owner having passed away. The asking price is a bit much in my view at £13,950 but there might be room for negotiation. 01948 860339. There is also one with 88,500 miles, 1998, blue/cream for £5,750 and anothe black one, 1998 and Panoramic roof with 83,000 miles for £11,500. First two in Cheshire and the other in Devon.

I'm not entirely sure there's enough leg room in a 129 for the kids - they are 10 and 8.

It depends how tall the driver is. I'm 6'1" and can just about drive with the seat moved forward a bit to give more legroom behind ... not ideal but OK for short-ish trips.

Legroom is no problem on the nearside - I've had my mum in the back and dad in the front

Slightly out of budget but how about one of these: Used Mercedes SL 73 AMG ( 129-series ) for sale - PistonHeads (Ref 858176)

That's the engine they used in the Pagani!

Look at that nearside front wheel arch height - why do these late R129's so regularly have this issue?

I don't recall seeing LHD ones with this problem.
