SL R230 Drivers heated seat bottom not working

Just bought my first SL and the drivers side seat bottom heating isn't working (back is fine). Does anyone have experience of fixing this?

It is usually the element that is at fault. It comes with the leather itself.

Had the same problem on my SLK but it was fixed under warranty by replacing the seat base. It was a comon problem on SLKs. Don't know about SLs, sorry.

I guess the message for both models is "don't kneel on the seats." Tricky when you want to clean the inside of the back window!

I have the same problem with mine too. It's going on star this week so hopefully I will know the exact problem. I may just replace the passenger side with the drivers side if it can't be fixed relatively cheaply. I'll keep you updated.

The best thing to do is to fit something like this

WAECO HEATED SEAT KIT (RETRO KIT FOR 1 SEAT) NEW SWITCH DESIGN - MSH-601 X 1 | eBay

and wire it into the original wiring...

Their more expensive carbon pad is a lot better, warms up much quicker.

is it easy enough to remove the seat bottom on its own or does the whole seat have to come out?
