Car
1997 CLK 320
im looking for a nice 129 sl but want to part ex my mint 1997 320 clk coupe, anyone interested please pm for details and phone number

I may be looking to sell my 300-24. Only done 69,000 miles, full service history, 1994 car with some nice extras, ie air-con, rear seats, 5 speed auto as opposed to the 4 speed unit, CD Stacker. Car is Bornite in colour. Has been very well looked after and no expense spared on servicing. Car is also garaged and is only used when the weather is good.

Very good condition and worth noting that the 300-24 valve model is the most powerful of the six cylinder cars and is comparitively hard to find, with the 300's and 320's being more numerous.

Let me know if this is of interest as I would be happy to consider your CLK.

Hi Mate, yes i would be interested in having a look at your car, forgive my ignorance but what colour is bornite? My car is in special order quartz blue with grey leather, has 75,000 miles and can only be described as immaculate. it has the reg number R15 CLK, it really is a lovely car but as im using an estate for my new job it now allows me to have a toy. If you are interested i will get the wife to e-mail you some photos.

Beem.......Bornite is a hard colour to describe.....its a grey'ish colour with a hint of heather in it.....sounds rubbish but its a lovely colour. You would need to see some photos of it. If you send me your e-mail address I will send you some pics.

Bornite tends to be listed as Blackberry metallic on the log book.

Bornite is a great colour .. and no real successor today.

Is this bornite

Yes thats Bornite, although again its slightly misleading as its got bright sunlight on it.....it really is one of those colours that looks completely different depending on the light.

Beem....I'll get back to you with some photos in the next day or so....bit busy work wise at present.

Ok mate, look forward to hear from you

E-mail sent. but here's a quick photo for you

you're right it does look good, although I don't see the colour making a major comeback, but given that red now accounts for 20 odd percent of new car colours who knows

Given your other thread (does it really need another thread?) I think you may struggle.

With the best will in the world, I can't see a '97 CLK320 being worth more than about 3-3.5k. Even with the topup you mentioned, it's still scraping the bottom for an SL - and a bad one is a money pit. They depreciate with age, but the running costs don't.

I think when we sell our car we always want top dollar, but when we buy one, we only want to pay bottom dollar.

The snag is ..

We are 'we'

We usually get what we pay for and paying peanuts will usually get a dog of a monkey :)

Acheap car is usually a recipe for disaster and when someone looks at our pristine car, they will no doubt find faults with it we had either never seen, or we gloss over. It would be nice if we were all realistic, but will that ever happen?

sometimes there are some bargains out there as well as a lot of dogs, its just a matter of waiting to see what comes up, i always choose my cars very carefuly and make sure they are right before wading in, i have been lucky so far. As for selling i put an ad in the car window and let the car sell itself, If you buy right you will always get a good price when you sell. My present car is one for those who want a top notch clk, I hear so many times what people say a car is worth but imo they are worth what the buyer is willing to pay. I always get my price and the new owner is always happy.

Any pictures ( detailed ) of the CLK for sale ? ;)

Im away for a long weekend as from tomorrow but as soon as i come back the wife will take some and put them on here for me, (I cant do it as im of the age that the only computer we learned at school was called a calculator and they were banned because they were seen as cheeting), I do have someone wanting to see the car the day i get home so if he buys it i may not have time to do pics

Well, if you're prepared to wait, good luck with the hunt. :thumb:

From experience, at that price bracket there are a small handful of bargain SL's in amongst a sea of mongrels - you may be waiting quite a while.

Im still enjoying the clk so its not a hardship but it is getting older by the day, hopefully something will turn up soon, who knows i might even win the lottery.
