Guys,
am looking at these 2 sets of wheels;
18" AMG E55 MERCEDES ALLOY WHEELS C E CE SL CLK 8"+9" on eBay (end time 19-Feb-11 15:58:28 GMT)

Mercedes Genuine AMG 17" Aero 1 Alloy wheels W124 190e on eBay (end time 05-Mar-11 15:26:41 GMT)

a couple of questions;

- will either/both set fit?
- what are your thoughts on each in respect of originality and appearance on a R129?

Those "blingy" Brabus split rims (BRABUS MONOBLOCK III 18'' SPLIT 3 PIECE ULTRA RARE on eBay (end time 14-Feb-11 23:49:42 GMT)) are still for sale and they are appealing to the gold watch and medallion wearimg side of me!

The Monoblock III's are way too blingy for my tastes. Of the other two, I think I'd prefer the 18" AMG's, but you'd need to check the fit.

The 18" mono blocks are a direct fitment on a r129.

The 18" AMGs are OK, and the right sizes for an R129.

The Aero Is are nice, but wouldn't look right on your car IMHO (and I'm not sure that the offset is correct). Also the lack of centre caps is a problem - they take a special size which I think is VERY hard to find now. IIRC they need a flat metal disc type, smaller diameter than the normal M-B caps.

Russ, here are the OZ's I mentioned. As previously noted, the lacquer has gone on the lips so they would need repolishing or powdercoating as preferred, but the centres are good.

Balancing up the value of these wheels, plus a nearly new set of £700 tyres vs the fact that they need a lip refurb, I'd be looking for something around £750-800?

I'm not sure I do, but I will check my datastore for any. However, if you want an example take a look at EDZ649's SL600.

Will do. What tyres are on the Oz alloys and where are you in the UK?

Tyres are PZero Rosso's, I'm based near M4 J13.

Have checked out EDZ649's profile pics of his SL600 and they really suit it. I think I will probably buy those off you. As this is my 29th post, will PM you shortly ref price and pick up options
