Not sure if this is the right section to post this but on two occasions recently the rollbar in my SL600 (R129) has deployed, once when going around a right hand turn and once over some bumps. Would I be correct in assuming this could be down to a faulty sensor somewhere?

Possibly - or you're driving too fast ;).

What year is it? Axle sensors were replaced by tilt switches on later cars.

It's a 1994. There is a switch on the rear axle.

Thanks, i will send you a PM with the VIN later.

PM sent.

I drove the car today and it seems to do it when accelerating hard too. I had a look under the car and there are two roll bar switches on the rear axle, one looks fairly new, the other probably original. Do they usually give trouble or could it be something else?

They do fail - they have a test and function mode as well which means they deploy under braking (or when the axle loses load).

You can read the DTCs from the rollbar module using an impulse readout (LED).

Switches are sided:

A1295401144 (Left)
A1295401244 (Right)

About £50 each.

No, I don't to be honest, can turn my hand to most things but know nothing about electronics I'm affraid.

Would it show up on a normal diagnostic machine?

You need a HHT - don't think Star works on the early cars? Ask Olly.
