My 1997 Sl320 heater starts off fine from cold and soon generates heat from all appertures. After approx 15 mins of driving, all air flow stops but fan is still working? I've tried all buttons/ combinations? any advice?

I suspect a temp sensor problem inside the car. The heater control unit does have its own diagnostics you can do to work out the problem.

FWIW, my car displayed similar symptoms when my viscous coupling wasn't engaging. I know the two aren't connected but I had a sneaking suspicion that the system was overriding the settings and forcing the aircon fans on in order to cool the engine down.
Is your viscous coupling working when hot?
