Hi ..just picked up a '94 SL320 ...and in the boot there is a removable preformed 'unit' that is secured in place by three clips ...anyone know what it is for?

Is it not for when the roof is down in the boot. A cover for you to place things on?

There should be a wind deflector behind that trim panel, but it looks like it is missing.

Unless it's already fitted to the roll bar of course.
OK ..thanks ...yes the wind deflector is fitted to the rollbar at the moment. Out of intrest does the wind deflector work ...have yet to get the hardtop off to test it :)

Yes the wind deflector is pretty effective. I hardly ever use it though as I find it a bit annoying in the rear view mirror!

Hope you had the hard top off to test the hood before buying the car!

Yep ... tested before we bought ...just in case :)

I just bought an SLK and it had the top down when I got in it to test drive it. I drove it and on getting back to the garage decided to buy it. Realised when I got home I had not had the top up , luckily my wife was with me and had them put the top up while she was out in it.
Anyway now I have it , I like it just as much with the top up and as it was bought from the MB dealer and comes with a 2 year warranty am not too worried about problems . I blame the V8 engine in it for the oversight.

I have an electric wind deflector, using it in traffic has definite advantages such as not having to look at the driver behind picking their nose etc
