I've got an oil leak on my 2003 SL500. Can't find the source - it's a right mess.

I believe it's around here:

(bottom left of engine)

The bolt I've photo'd below - is that the sump bolt? I guess that's a prime suspect but the oil is sprayed all around including above, perhaps wind spray?

Anyone got any ideas?

Can you take a pic from the top?

I will have to take one but it's not possible to see anything from the top I'm afraid.

Is there a "how to" with the oil change? Can't get the search function to work.

Thanks

Couple more pictures.

Seems to be a lot of mess around this gold coloured cylinder - what is it?

From the top:

Many thanks

That's the ABC pump leaking.

In the last pic you can see where it has been spraying on the body.

Get a new one fitted asap. They can loose all their fluid very quickly if the radial seal pops.

Thanks very much mate, could well be there's no engine oil leak then and the mess is all coming from this?

Cheers

Can you remove the air filter housing and take a picture of the rocker covers as it looks like they could be leaking also

These are quite common too

I agree, the pump looks like its toast.
