SL500....is this too cheap?

I'm looking for an SL500 at the moment and came across this one.

Seems cheap to me, and with an honest advert.

What do you guys think?

Any of the day its a 16 year old car, 170K miles and a big v8 Petrol engine

I've not looked at prices but suspect the price is right?

Looking at it, your right looks fair, and honest add. Go see it have a drive, check all the elctrics work and look at the hood where it folds for damage. I would also check the oil nut thing he mentions...just to make sure its not leaking.

A couple of observations. Two different reg nos. so probably retained his own p/plates, and two different sets of front indicator lenses. The seller mentions a radio cassette player, but the picture shows a CD player. All trivial things, but a phone call would give you a feel for the seller.

Large annual mileage before 2006 - annual services, but 28K and 36K intervals!! Hopefully it got an oil change in the middle.

Didn't spot that - there a C124 near us - the seller says selling because of 3 kids - feedback says he brought it 11/4/11!

Just checked the old for the SL - same photos!

Good spot re. the front indicators. The units have been known to come off (I lost one of mine on the M4!), but replacing with a different type

I sold my old SL500 which was a MY96 facelift model with 69k miles about 6 months ago for £5250 so it isn't too cheap I would say. The extra mileage and the fact it is a pre-96MY non-facelift model with 4 speed auto prices it about right for an average example in my book.

The rusty bit would worry me if I were looking at it as it suggests that money hasn't been spent when it was needed. That being said I had a rusty bit on my SL60 when I bought it due to a poor rear quartel panel repair. I have just found out why they might have repaired the rear panel as the rear panel was EOL and no stock in UK. Also was £800 for the panel and about £1.5-2k for the labour!

I am saving up to get it done this winter! Hopefully a bodyshop short on work over the winter might want to do a nice deal with me if I left it with them for a couple of weeks.

Any bodywork guys want a nice job over the winter?!

Hi guys,

I'm selling this car! So, yes, I paid £3,850 for it in March..but I've had to spend a few bob to get it to a decent standard. E.g new wiper motor, new heater resistor, new wheel bearings etc. Gonna lose money because of the high mileage but it is an honest car and I've not had any problems as such. Looking to buy something within my budget like a BMW M3 as I can't afford an SL55 amg right now!
