All the parts together should hardly cost £1300. What is the problem actually? Are you not getting any readings or is it something else?
The computer is back on saying to go to dealer, has been back this morning and low and behold the wife had to pay another £360, this time it was for two new rear tyre sensors that were out of date. So far we have had 4 new tyre sensors and two modules replaced......total bill to get a warning light off...£1650.00.....ran a carrera 2S for best part of 2 years and never paid bills like this.....not impressed

The tyre pressure sensor should be replaced everytime a tyre is and it is not often this is done.
An SL55 will never be cheap to run and generally cheaper than a 911. I repair both in my workshop.

Tyre sensor batteries run flat, easy to check with star if batteries are low. If these were the first set of sensors for a 2003 car, that sounds pretty good.
But there should be only one control module, I assume they they did not touch the antenna parts. Old control units generally seem to have issues but if the same control unit was already replaced once and turned out to be bad, I don't see why you should have paid anything for the one after.

Also a tyre pressure sensor should cost less than €100 if bought from a correct shop (could be an Audi or Ferrari shop, they have used the same sensors).

why did you not go to an indie? would have cost half as much and the job would have been done first time. Indies require good work to keep themselves in business whereas MB dealers.....
Here is my findings ...
Background. 2004 SL55. Put new wheels on, and new tyre sensors. Coded up new sensors ,all syncs nicely and I get tyre pressures shown. Drive down the road and it all breaks. When I look at the TPC control unit using Star, data (the TPM sensor IDs and base pressures) have been corrupted ...
Looking into this further, the new sensors have longer ID numbers in them - I suspect that this is causing the software in the early control unit to crash.
There have been 3 versions of the control module, which I suspect means that there have been 3 software releases.
I havent got around to checking my TPC control unit version number or ordering a new module since the TPC modules are a few hundred quid.
Do you have any of the "so called" faulty modules ?

looking at the order sheet on a SL55 in front of me, its says option 475 tyre pressure monitor 331.50.
does this mean it gives the read out of each wheel in the instrument panel? or just loss of pressure from any wheel
sorry for the dumb question just trying to get to grips with all the options again before i test drive on saturday

Rather embarrasingly, I worked out what the problem was .. I put the old tyre pressure sensors in a bag in the boot. Took them far away from the car, re-initialised the TPM controller, all now fine.

Yes. if its the one you are paying for (was paid for when new), then it gives you the tyre pressure display.
Enjoy Saturday, although it must be said I have no intention of taking mine out in this weather - too much power thru 2 wheels in 8" of snow ;-)

thanks, loved that option on my old 55, yea this is being bought to be turned into bit of a show piece...
