the car that I am considering has a single slat grill, as in the picture.
is this normal? Car is 2004 year.
Also the wheels are black would they have been supplied from new like this or do you think they are refurbished?

Grill has been replaced and would expect wheels have been refurbished.

I don't think those AMG IV wheels are supplied in black, only in silver and gunmetal grey.

Could be the grill is an aftermarket one. Any images I have seen of the SL55 have a 4 slatted grill.

is the single slat from the SL65?

i am assuming its a straight forward replacement to get to original but then I start thinking it may have been replaced due to accident maybe?

The single slat is the SL65 grill. Who knows whether it was replaced for cosmetic appeal or an accident ? I tend to think the former, but short of asking all the previous owners, it would need a body shop expert to check it over for repair evidence.

Apart from your queries regarding the grill and refurbed wheels, have you actually inspected the car yet?

thanks for the reply, Yes I have inspected and had a ride in the car but I have a few concerns before i part with the cash, made a offer that was rejected, but before I maybe offer a bit more i just wanted to clarify a few things.
the car seems nice, seller seems genuine but just a few little things that I am not happy about, thats why I am asking for a bit of advice from people in the know.

Hi Alx. Thanks very much for that. Any idea how many original F1 (Not Performance Pack) were supplied to UK??. They seem to be increasing in value. Had mine 6 years now & love it. Also any ideas on the 380mm disc brakes??. By the way if you need new/replacement struts theres an American co called Arnott who do refurb ones. They have a European operation based in Holland & do a part ex @ 699eu + vat. Google Arnott Europe. Best Phil

The numbers of F1 (030 Performance Package) cars I have often seen quoted as 20 however based on my own experience looking to buy one I think there may be a few more than that although there does not seem to be any definitive data. Perhaps we should start our own mini club/register!
On the subject of brake discs I have only been able to find genuine Mercedes items.

Not a bad idea. There's currently an 'F1 Package' SL55 for sale on ebay and although the owner has had it for a long time he was not driving what he thought he had, or alternatively he's trying to sell something that isn't what he claims it is. With three out of six requests on this thread turning out to show the genuine F1 Package, a club/register might at least stop unwary buyers from getting their fingers burnt.

New here i have the performance pack on my car i was looking for a C63 and this SL63 popped up and i fell in love and bought it. on the spanish website it says 19,000 euros for the performance pack. obviously its the better option where can i find info on my cars top speed and the extras that the performance pack gives me?
don't know if this is the right place for this question.
