 Lucky that SL didn't want to play! ;)

Not envious, not envious one little bit.

Thanks for the post

I should bring the bus, show you how its done.... :)

Great videos, both cars sounded great. No sence of speed though at least not watching them, probably different in there,

cheers

i can't see any mercedes. just a silver speck in the distance.
i thought you were going to collect that corsa. the gap was tight.
how do you think a corvette ZO6 will fare against the ferrari in a straight line drag?

Just a small video from Sunday's VMAX between an SL55 Performance Pack (F1 safety car spec) v my F430.

Was good fun! :D

F430 v SL55 PP (50MB File)

Brilliant videos !!!

Reminds me of when i went for my Ferrari 360 driving day at Donnington last year....., the damned instructor had to sit with you, and kept making me change up at relatively low revs.

A tractor Fuelled Skoda would have made an impression!!!

But knowing the owner they would make an excuse and turn up on a push bike  :D :D

You are probably right, but had I kept an eye on a different forum perhaps I may have known about this and turned up in the clatterwagon.

If you leave it running at low revs for a while, then boot it, amusing levels of smoke can be had.

It would be good to see how much over 130 it would go tho.

Now, I happen to know that they are going to facelift the SL soon, and drop the 55 & 65 amg for the 63 thats in everything else.

So, hopefully the SL63 PP may make an impression where the SL55 didnt :-( Now I need to start saving !

:D In a drag race the old CL55 komp and new CL63 (the new n/a 6.2 motor) were exactly the same in acceleration and top end (both got 177mph).

At a guess the new SL63 maybe slightly quicker than the outgoing SL55 due to the 7 speed box, however the '55 feels quicker due to the higher torque output. Both are great cars and the 6.3 engine (OK, 6.2) is a wonderful motor.

I watched a rerun of top Gear last night where they took the SLR round the track and it trounced the competition by about 3 seconds. Sounded wonderful too.

I'd love to see your Ferrari against an SLR. Interestingly I think that BMW M3 was probably limited to 155 so you were able to blast past him. Well impressed with you catching him up.....

How does the Ferrari compare to the CL65 in straight line performance terms?

Why is Mercedes dropping the engine with the biggest HP ( 65 ) for a lesser one to go in their new top of the range ?

If the new 63 is only as fast as the old 55 ? what's the point ? :)

Why drop a 612bhp engine for one that 'only' produces 510 (ish) which in theory is still less than the old 55's produced as they were conservatively estimated with regards to bhp weren't they ?

H

I would expect them to have a 63 and 65 as one is V8 and the other V12.

I guess the 63 V8 is greener than a blown 55.V8

Just a guess tho.
