Currently my SL55 has the classic 18" turbine wheels on it. They are good wheels, but cleaning them is a pain and I would like to go up to 19s.

I have a set of AMG IV 2pc wheels refurbed in black.silver so my car will look like this once they are on:

I think they are the way to go, but I do also like BBS CH-Rs like these (only in 19" not 20" and not with a silly rear width):

These also cuaght my eye, but I don't know what make/model they are... they look vaguely like AMG wheels but may well be replicas. Again I would want them in 19s. Any ideas as to what they are?

The AMG IVs are probably the way to go, but I just wonder if one of the other two designs look a bit more elegant... the 2pc AMG IVs are a bit 'chunky' maybe? Of course it's difficult looking at the pics as 2 of them are 20" wheels as opposed to the actual 19"s I would want!

Your thoughts?

love the bbs they look great but the amg splits for me everytime, had a set and sold them to a member on here.tough wheels and well made.

And the reason the Amg splits look chunky is because the are 18" reps and not the real deal 19's

AMG IVs, definitely.

What about the AMG III, always liked them as they have concave rears

They look good actually.... nice and simple. Cheers for the pic!

Hi Chris, hope all's well.

I like those AMG IV wheels, I thought you were set on those ;)

I did sell the MMR wheels I got from you, but they ended up on ChrisA's car that recently had a little impact, so are not 100% anymore.

I went for the AMG III wheels now, as standard really. But fancy them a little darker, kinda graphite colouring.

Hi Tim,

Yeah I'm not bad thanks, hope all's good with you too.

Your new wheels look great, but I agree they could do with being gunmetal or around there colour wise. The design is nice and elegant though and suits the car really well. That said the MMRs in your other pic do look good LOL! Always did like those, sad to here they have been in a scrape.

Yeah I was set on the AMG IVs, but the SL is a funny car to balance looks wise.... I think I am just worried they are going to look a bit like Doc Martens on a slender legged model .... I think I need to stop worrying and get them on ... just waiting for the weather to improve.

Your 55 looks very smart indeed.....I'm glad you joined the 55 club :D

Cheers,

Chris.

Thanks Chris, I do like these though - and a great colour ;)

Then there's painting the calipers. If only the original silver paint wasn't so good already.

Yes now they are nice.... a bit like the BBS CH-Rs. The design really suits the car.

Funny you should post that as I am just in the process of having my calipers painted.... yellow! :thumb:

Yellow will look great. Post pics when they're done. Are you removing them to paint. ?

If I get mine done it'd be blue I think.

Yeah they're coming off on Wednesday and going to Godspeed Brakes for servicing and painting!

I wasn't going to bother but with the rest of the car looking A1 they are letting the side down a bit as they have the odd chip and bits of engrained dirt... so why not :D

Will post pics once they are sorted.

Just switched my turbines for 19" MkIVs. So much better as the turbines definately date the car!!

Yes they do, but I still think they suit the car quite well. It's the fact they are 18 inch that lets them down a little for me and cleaning them is a nightmare!

Definitely the 1V's, they are the only wheel that suit the car IMO of course.

Yeah I think I'm leaning that way today, my partner loves the BBS, but I am sort of wanting only genuine AMG wheels on the car!
