Hi all,

New to the forum after many years as a BMW owner  but the service department let me down to often.

Now in the MB fold after buying myself a SL350, but due to cashflow problems will probably have to downrange soon. SLK probably.

Anyway, I was hoping to keep my new number plate for better times, but will have to get rid to pay the mortgage this month. It's SL55 WOW - anyone interested????

Serious offers only please.

Welcome to the forum

I do't like bm's either

Good luck with your sale

Erm, how can it be SL55 WOW? '55' reg cars are not released yet are they?

Good luck though!

Hi,

55 Reg's are available to buy from DVLA and will be able to put onto a car registered from September 05 onwards. However, as you will find out, all the good ones have now gone. :(

SL55 WOW has been valued at £11995 from Newreg.com, but in order to make a quick sale (mortgage arrears soon?!?) I'm willing to accept £8,000 for it. Someone could make nearly £4k profit if they want......... My friend had A911 WOW on his Turbo and sold the plate, not the car, for £15k just from advertising it in the Times on Sunday. SL55 WOW will be going in next week for £12k so if you're interested please let me know.

I'm registered with Paypal so can accept credit/debit cards.

Once in a lifetime offer here!

you can buy SL55 YES or SL55 TOY or SL55 BBS (brabus) for £1799

Hi,

SL55 TOY has been sold already (shouldn't be appearing on the DVLA website), don't know about the others, but imho WOW is better than both those. As previously said A911 WOW sold for £15k and Newreg want £11995 for WOW.

sorry but I don't think that your "55" plate is a fraction of the value of an old "A" plate like the A911 example you are using.

As Grav has said there are still alternatives available for under £2000.

Good luck with the sale but I believe that you are being a little over optimistic :)

Andy

CL55 WOW is still available for £2,599 if anyone is interested.

CL55 WOW

Any CL55 owners buy it now before somebody else does and potentially make £9,396 profit :)

How about the chance to get it for £6k on eBay

even at £6k, it's way overpriced. The market is restricted to owners of SL55's, and despite seeing them everywhere in central London, there can't be that many.

Plus, why get a plate which shouts your model designation? That's what those little metal things on the boot does!

I think it's really naff to get a registration like the SL 55 XXX or CL 55 XXX or similar. A plate with say 3 letters and 3 numbers would be so much better.

Agreed - what are you going to do with it when you change your car (SL65 ;) )

Car related plates are (in general) not as special as proper 'personal' plates, ie, initial/names/short etc.

How much did you pay for it? Surely if you are selling it due to unforseen circumstances you won't be looking for vast profits?

If it's not selling, there is a reason...

Careful

So, you are also selling s1x pj on ebay too....

must be quite some mortgage arrears...

Con alert??!!

I'd ask to Newreg to put their money where their mouths are

" here's the reg number, according to you it's worth £11,500 give me £6,000 for it and then you keep any profit you make on the resale"

I'll bet they won't take you up :)

Andy

PS when my neighbour tried selling his "clasic" car which he'd got valued at £10,000 by a specialist car dealer the best offer he could get was £2500.

The moral of the story is that things are only worth what people will pay for them

actually its restricted to only new SL 55's, so everyone who has one now can't put this on.

I paid £250 for my model designated number S500.... I thought that was worth it....there is no way I would pay £6k for a number for personal use - I would rather have 10+ track days!!

DB1

I think db1 has hit the nail on the head and highlighted a serious point! No use whasoever for any owners of current SL55s

Sorry,

Will

Thanks for your support guys - especially Splang.

This is not a con - if it was then surely I would not have the V750 certificate? I don't wish what I'm going through on anyone, including splang, but yes I am trying to liquidise some of my assets to pay for lifes essentials. Perhaps if you were in the same boat you would be doing the same, and I'm damn sure you too would be disappointed with some people's reactions to what is a genuine reason for sale.

Perhaps in future you could think about peoples situations before adding two and two together and coming to five - I've had enough of my ineffective accountant doing that.

If anyone is interested in buying my registration then you can either bid on ebay or pm me. If you're not interested, then I would ask you not to put idle speculation on this thread. I'm sorry if you think I am being harsh, but this is very important to my family and I.

Thank you in advance.

pjmobile,

i think everyone has a great deal of sympathy for your position, that is not the question - it is more about a general discussion of the value of private plates to individuals and what they might / might not pay for them. I was merely expressing my view as a potential purchaser - i have an SL55...
