Hi

The Garmin satnav occasionally freezes on start up - i.e control knob does nothing when rotated/moved. Can take up to 5 mins before it unlocks and works as normal. All the other functions e.g radio etc work fine. Car is still in warranty. Anyone else had this problem? Is there a fix (e.g software update)? Thanks

I can only imagine it has difficulty in reading the SD-Card. If so, then it could be either a faulty SD-Card slot in the Audio20 unit, or (more likely) a faulty SD-Card media.

You could try removing the SD-Card from the car and updating the Garmin software using your PC. This will download and install the latest patches for your software (but won't update the maps - you'll need to buy a new SD-Card for that). Not sure it will help, but it's simple to do, and free...

Either way, I'd take the car to the dealer, and also ask them to update the firmware on the Audio20 unit while they're at it. The latter can only be done using STAR so it's a dealer/specialist job. If the car is under warranty and you are complaining about an issue then the dealer shouldn't charge for the firmware update.

The dealer should be able to eliminate the SD-Card as the source of the issue by testing the system with a different (temporary) card.
