SLC satnav?

A mate - yes, honestly - has a 17 reg SLC with no satnav, I’m not sure which ICE package it has.

On my C-class there was a socket in the glove box for a Becker Map Pilot, so without having further info, anyone know if the SLC will have something similar?

The Becker Map Pilot was replaced in 2015 with the Garmin Map Pilot which is supplied on an SD-Card.

I am not sure what infotainment unit your friend has, but chances are he will need something similar to this:
