SLC Stop/Start

2017 SLC 200 Sports Petrol Automatic: Just bought and cannot find answer to this yet: On dash, by mpg digital display (please view photo - if I can make it receive uploaded file!) ) is another marked 'Charge' it is a rectangular box (blacked out). The car stops/starts well but is the aux battery good? Should there be, say, a green light in this box to indicate fully charged battery, or something? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

The dash symbol for the Stop/Start system is the yellow letter A inside a circular arrow. When it's yellow, Stop/Start isn't available. When it's green, Stop/Start is available.

The 'Charge' box will go blue or green when you are driving along and lift off the throttle and allow the car to coast, its meant to show the energy recovery of the drive system by only allowing the alternator to charge on the overrun rather than constantly, thus lowering mpg. It does work really well, fours years with a C200 petrol and this system I had consistent Mpg.

The charge bar increases to show the recovered charge versus road speed, i.e. lift off after giving the boot it will go full green, or coast and it will start blue and increase to full green as you coast from say 70 mph down to 40 mph, or at least it did in my 2016MY C200

Thanks for the video and I've learnt a bit more! Just to ask, do you see above and to the right of A, is a box marked 'charge'? In the image it is black and the stop/start works fine by the way. But if the s/s works fine then shouldn't the box be say green? Why is it black? I cannot find an answer yet? Do you think the aux battery is working ok - I bought the car a few days ago immaculate and just a a couple of thousand miles on clock so it has seen very few miles of running.

As unimog explained, the 'Charge' bar is not related to the Stop/Start function.

What does surprise me is that (if I understand your post correctly) the Stop/Start works fine while the 'A' is yellow? Stop/Start should only work when the 'A' is green... yellow means it's currently unavailable.

Sorry for the confusion markjay, I was trying to ask soley about the charge box above right to the mpg indicator in the image but in the process was thankful of more info about the 'A' icon, which is, I believe working ok thanks.
