Slight rubbing issues, coilovers?

I've got a slight rubbing issue when there's a lot of weight in the car going over bigger bumps, I've had a black series body kit put on my CLK, the steel arches cut and rolled up and the fiberglass arches over the top, with wheel spacers pushing the wheels out past where the old arches sat, the tyres catch on the old steel every so often, I've cut them back about as far as they will go until almost level with the fiberglass arches, my other worry is that if I take the steel too far, the tyres will probably start smashing into the fiberglass ones on big bumps, the only real fix other than coilovers would be shorter wheel spacers (which would look not so good)
I've got some pro sport coilovers, if I have the rear ones fitted and set to the highest setting, is it likely that I will get less wheel travel than the stock shocks, or am I likely going to have to go about it some other way?
