Some advice needed please.
My mum has spotted a pretty SLK200 on auto trader for £5200, e-mailed the vendor to question the price and the reply was Yes - £5200. woohoo she thinks.
The problem is that it is a 54 plate UK registered convertible & the owner is selling the car using Ebay as an 'Inter Agent' (a service that i cannot find any info about !).
Methinks it is a scam - but the car is offered on 5 days approval at her home address before payment is required - which is not condusive to any scam i know of.
From e-mail traffic:
"You will receive all the car's documents along with the car, and if you decide to buy it, you will receive a power of attorney which will give you the power to register the car under your name, without me having to be there. As soon as I receive your info (full name, a shipping address and a contact number) I will forward it to the agent who will be handling our transaction and he should contact you with more details about how things work."
These cars are approx £14k on autotrader , and the reason quoted for selling is "I am selling it for this price because the german registration taxes are to expensive for me"
After checking tinterweb German-UK imports can be done for approx £1k.
It seems too good to be true - What do you think??
Cheers
