Guys ,
I have done a search but cannot find it.
Thought I had read about upping the width of the rear tyres from 255 x 35 x 18 to 265,s instead.
Would I need to keep 35 profile or drop to 30 profile with the 265 width?
I am just in the process of changing the fronts but am keeping the 235 width as standard and have ordered Conti sport 5,s as they are whats on it at the moment.
Any other views on the "must have" tyres of the moment? Are Continentals still ok ?
Thanks in advance
Regards
Rob.

You would have to move up to a 300 section tyre for a 30% aspect ratio to give you the same rolling radius as a 255 / 35 tyre, so I would suggest not. Why are you wanting to increase the width to 265 anyway?

The Conti 5P's seem to work well on the R172 SLK55 and aren't as noisy as they are on my E63 so I haven't felt any particular need to swap them for anything else on my wife's car. If you fancy trying something different, the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3's I'm now running on my E63 are very good.

Thanks Phil,
just thought a bit more width would give slight more grip and also look a bit "meaner" which is always a good thing.
Regards
Rob.
