Chaps, our new to us Y reg 2.3 Slk blows warm air for ages, a good half hour then it cools down, no matter what the temp is outside. I get theirs heat in the system at the beginning, but this can’t be doing this?
Full on cold and still warm. EC button makes it hotter.
Any ideas, not ideal with how it is atm

Hi
There is no 'heat in the system at the beginning' . The temperature of the engine and it's fluids is the same as the temperature of the environment the car is parked in.
This only changes when you start the engine and 'things' start to warm up. At this point various valves/flaps a blower/de-humidifier and compressor come into play depending on what you have asked them to do via your dashboard.

The symptoms you describe would suggest a failure of one (or more) of the control aspects of your heating/cooling system. Without reading the codes - or someone on here having EXACTLY the same experience - this could be a tricky one.

I assume the car has air conditioning, when was it last vacuumed/dried/re gassed and leak tested ? A new pollen filter probably won't fix much but when was that last replaced ?

Could be a couple of things really - if you say it's gets hotter with the EC button pressed, then it sounds like your air con is working (EC disables air con), but the heat could be due to a failing temp sensor (I believe the heating system is electronically controlled on these cars) or possibly the valve that controls the hot/cold air mix is sticking, hence it goes cold after a while.

I can hear something moving when I press EC. Maybe it’s been stood a while and something is sticking. I can live with it, just about, till I get time for a proper fettle with a couple of other little niggles.

Get one of the many mobile aircon regasers to test the system, they will tell you what's wrong.

Went out earlier, red hot day, very cool air blower
Bonded with this old girl really well, I can almost forgive her anything. She’s great fun.
