Where in the world was my SLK built?

I ask because an insurance quote from Admiral specifically excludes a courtesy car because the SLK is a non-EU import.

But a car is not normally classed as an import based on where it's manufactured.

E.g. all MLs, GLs, and R Classes are built in the USA.

thanks for your help!

it's a 171, bought new september 09 from Nottingham.

My question to the insurance company would be; what does a courtesy car have to do where a car is manufacturered?!

i asked that - and not surprisingly the call centre lady did not know

Bought new from the Mercedes-Benz franchised dealership in Nottingham?

If so I'd be asking them why your insurance company thinks you have a grey import!!

Normally a car's country of origin for insurance purposes is the location of the original supplying MB dealer in this case:- the UK??? :thumb: Insurance wise if a car was supplied/manufactured out with the EU there might be problems with type approval/delivery import restrictions for parts to repair it which would mean long delays in repair time= long courtesy car rental/time. :( That's all I can think of- but should not apply in this case anyway.

Mary?

I think I've spoken to her...
